Know all the basics of 3d printing technology?

The 3D printing technology is one of the most unique technology that the world will ever have. It has helped to do many jobs more easily and is constantly trying itself to incorporate into other more sectors. The technology came into work in the 1980s.

From then on, people have been very excited due to the advent of the new technology. They are very keen to know and learn about the 3D printing technology. It has spent much time to come into the most awaited construction department. Recently, as per the trusted sources, a house is being built with the help of 3D printed materials. Though, it is being used in many sectors, many people do not know the basics of the 3D printing technology. So, it is of uttermost importance to make people aware of the facts and basics about this unique technology. That is why, it is advisable to know all the 3D printing terminology and apply it while doing the printing of models, even it is more applicable for the children who are trying to create models for their projects or the students building prototypes.

Here, we are going to discuss all the basics terms about the 3D printing technology and concepts that one might need to do the 3D printing.

  1. Colour choice

It is one of the most significant part one has to decide. The user must decide the colour of the model that is going to be created because wrong choice of colours could result into not achieving the desired results. The user can take help from different technical support teams or study from different websites. Some recommend that one should go for the basic index colours, mainly for who are new in this field.

  1. Stereolithography

The process used mainly for the 3D printing is known as Stereolithography. It is an additive process, where the model is built in an additive process. Earlier, in the initial stages, LASER was used to print the model. The pattern was dipped in the liquid polymer and the model was built and taken out of the polymer.

Now, in this process, the model is built in additive process. The 3D printing pen, another cool gadget to do 3D print, is used nowadays. This device heats the material filament to a very temperature and the material is ejected through the tip of the pen and it is cooled in the room temperature under a light source. The cooling occurs very fast and gets hardened and the model is built as per the requirements.

  1. Size

The size of the model might be an issue to the beginners. That is why, it is always advisable to print the model in its actual size and the model will make itself as per original specifications. If the model is bigger than the 3D printer, it should be printed in parts and the parts can be joined with ease according to the requirements.

The shape should be mad perfect as per the original part since making advancements by oneself may cause harm to the model because everyone does not know all the basics and the proper calculations.

  1. Co-ordinates

The co-ordinates, that is X, Y and Z plane co-ordinates should be learnt properly because these co-ordinates play a very big role in the 3D printing technology. One should understand since it is also an important part in mathematics and one can get acquainted with this topic while using the CAD softwares, where one must learn these concepts clearly. It will only help one to do the 3D prints more perfectly and design as per the specification and requirements.

It will also help a person in solving and understanding the parts of the fabrication processes.

  1. Tolerance

The models built should be analysed beforehand. This is because the models have to be given enough space for tolerance and require to satisfy all the other mechanical properties. This is also of serious issue as it may involve the longevity of the product.

  1. Providing supports

The support should be provided to almost every model created because the absence of a suitable support may hamper the model being made.

In case of building bridges, the need of support is of uttermost importance. This is because the bridge may become shaggy while getting printed. If not shaggy, at least it will not satisfy the desired results.

  1. Shapes

The polygons are of the most used shapes in the 3D printing technology. The resolution of the 3D printers may hamper and create differences between models created in two other printers. Therefore, it is advisable to check out the differences and create the models according to the requirements in those printers only.

There are most common basics which everyone has to know and apply them in the industry of 3D printing technology. This should help them to do the needful and produce desired results and enjoy them to the fullest.
